Sustainability Efforts

We believe in creating a cleaner and healthier world. This is why we work hard to improve our carbon footprint from the beginning of our products' lifespan till the very end. After all, we believe being kinder to the planet starts at home.

The Trigger Project

The Trigger Project -- a Dettol initiative -- has a lofty goal: to create a full collection of products from sustainable ingredients.

We’ve already gotten started. Our new surface wipes are made from 100% biodegradable plant fibre; our spray refill pouches from 70% less plastic - and there’s more to come yet.

Our innovative metal-free spray trigger launched in 2018 and is now being migrated across our global products portfolio with a completion date of 2021 in mind. We have also adopted a smaller design for spray bottles, which will cut our overall plastic use in the short term.

What’s more, we’ve partnered with TerraCycle in the US and UK to recycle materials that are not widely recyclable at a local council level, including flexible laminates.

And there’s more to come...

Our plastics pledge

Dettol, together with our parent company RB, is committed to removing and reducing our use of single use plastic packaging wherever possible to help address and reduce the effect it has on our planet.

By 2025:

  • 100% of our packaging will be recyclable or reusable.
  • Where we will continue to use plastic in packaging we will ensure that at least 25% of its content is recycled plastic by 2025, where possible or allowed by regulators.
  • All Dettol products will be clearly labelled to tell you how to best recycle them.
  • We will continue with our projects looking at improving recyclability on problematic materials, including laminates, tubes, PVC blisters, composites, and pumps.

Our work doesn’t end here, we’ll continue to identify partners and actions we can take for a cleaner and healthier world.
